This is an interesting news. Wal-Mart has placed banner ads on the PirateBay which advertising their new release dvds. What are the public response about this matter? For your information PirateBay.org is one of the biggest and popular torrent tracker among its kind. Yes indeed they has been busted before by the authorities and yet it didn’t stop them from changing their server and continue their services.

Earthquakes Interrupts Telecommunications Across Asia

It’s been five days since the earthquake in Taiwan (27 December 2006). Internet connection literally still slow as they still trying to recover the damaged. While I’m sitting in front of my computer doing nothing. All my works is obstructed. They estimate it will come back to normal around 3 weeks. Its been a week and my life is miserable. :P

We wish to inform our customers that the Internet service is currently experiencing a degradation in performance caused by several outages at some of the international links.

This is attributed to the Richter 7.1 magnitude earthquake that struck off the southern coast of Taiwan at 12.07 a.m. on 27th December 2006, which caused the APCN2 (Asia Pacific Cable Network 2) submarine cable fault between Shantou, China and Tanshui, Taiwan and between Lantau, Hong Kong and Chongming, China.

BitTorrent to Acquire µTorrent

Bram Cohen, the creator of the BitTorrent protocol, announced that his company would be finalizing an acquisition of µTorrent today.

“Together, we are pleased to announce that BitTorrent, Inc. and µTorrent AB have decided to join forces,” Cohen wrote in his blog. “BitTorrent has acquired µTorrent as it recognized the merits of µTorrent’s exceptionally well-written codebase and robust user community. Bringing together µTorrent’s efficient implementation and compelling UI with BitTorrent’s expertise in networking protocols will significantly benefit the community with what we envision will be the best BitTorrent client.”

The move will bring quite a few torrent users over to BitTorrent. News site TorrentFreak estimates that buying uTorrent, will bring BitTorrent nearly 50 percent of torrent users.
